Living with a chronic illness not only alters your physical body but your mental and emotional states.
It changes how you see yourself, how you feel about yourself, and even how you present to the world around you. If you’re managing endometriosis or another chronic condition and feeling like your mental health has been left out of the conversation, I’m here for you.
Endometriosis & Chronic Illness treatment with me looks like:
Validation, Validation, Validation. There will be no gaslighting here. Your pain is real.
Cultural Competency. I recognize that in many cultures, especially my own Latin culture, “pushing through” is the norm. Prioritizing capitalism over our physical and mental well-being is celebrated while needing rest is punished. Together, we’ll explore which deeply rooted cultural patterns are showing up in your life and how to safely release them while still honoring the parts of your culture that ground you.
Identity Work. Who were you before your diagnosis took over? What did it force you to let go of, and who are you now as a result? Who do you want to be? We’ll work on reconnecting with those parts of yourself that need love and care while staying grounded in what your body is capable of and what it needs.
Mindfulness. What thoughts run wild when you’re in pain or having a flare-up? How often are you checking in with your body? You’ll learn to sit with yourself and listen to what your body is asking for. Without judgment.
Narrative Work. The stories we tell ourselves about our experiences can make or break us. What is your story? Are you strong and brave for enduring your chronic illness? Or does your brain resort to calling you “weak” and “lazy” and maybe some other not-so-nice things? Changing the narrative, owning your experience, and deciding what role your chronic illness gets to play in your story. Because it doesn’t have to be the whole story.
EMDR. If appropriate for your treatment, we’ll use bilateral stimulation to help your brain reprocess the medical trauma, gaslighting, dismissal, and fear that can come with a long-term condition.
Values Work. What did you stop doing because of your symptoms, and what still matters to you? We’ll find ways to safely and gently reconnect with the activities and relationships that were pushed aside.
Are you ready to stop doing this alone?
